SOLO

Solo is an event that displays a variety of baton combinations choreographed to the current BTSAI Solo music.  The emphasis is on combinations (both body & baton) that are executed with correct technique and maintained throughout the routine.

Dance is not expected as the expectations are for a focus on correct demonstration of baton skills

All ages and all levels are available

It is run in a set system with up to 8 athletes on the competition floor at the same time, ensure the athletes are prepared in the holding area on time as a set cannot be repeated, failure to enter the floor at the correct set number will be deemed as a no show. Athletes must wear their code number clearly displayed prior to the event

2 BATON

2 baton is an event that displays a variety of baton combinations choreographed to the current BTSAI 2 baton music.  The emphasis is on combinations (both body & baton), utilising both batons clearly and evenly,  executing correct technique and demonstrating ambidexterity throughout the routine.

It is run in a set system with up to 8 athletes on the competition floor at the same time, ensure the athletes are prepared in the holding area on time as a set cannot be repeated, failure to enter the floor at the correct set number will be deemed as a no show. Athletes must wear their code number clearly displayed prior to the event

Athletes must be Juvenile and older, level B1 and above in 2 baton

FREESTYLE

2 baton is an event that displays a variety of baton combinations choreographed to the current BTSAI 2 baton music.  The emphasis is on combinations (both body & baton), utilising both batons clearly and evenly,  executing correct technique and demonstrating ambidexterity throughout the routine.

It is run in a set system with up to 8 athletes on the competition floor at the same time, ensure the athletes are prepared in the holding area on time as a set cannot be repeated, failure to enter the floor at the correct set number will be deemed as a no show. Athletes must wear their code number clearly displayed prior to the event

Athletes must be Juvenile and older, level B1 and above in 3 baton


Artistic Twirl is an event that displays a variety of dance and baton combinations choreographed to the current WBTF/BTSAI music.  The emphasis is on combinations (both body & baton) that are executed with correct technique and maintained throughout the routine.

Dance moves can be drawn from all forms of dance that are appropriate to the music.

It is expected that visual musicality is displayed throughout, bearing in mind this is an artistic programme

It is run in a set system with up to 6 athletes on the competition floor at the same time, ensure the athletes are prepared in the holding area on time as a set cannot be repeated, failure to enter the floor at the correct set number will be deemed as a no show. Athletes must wear their code number clearly displayed prior to the event

Athletes must be Pre-teen and older, level C and above


Freestyle is an event that displays a variety of dance and baton combinations choreographed to the music of your choice.  The emphasis is on combinations (both body and baton) that are executed with the correct technique and maintained throughout the routine. 

Dance moves can be drawn from all forms of dance that are appropriate to the music. Artistic expression and technical merit marks are used for scoring. 

The whole floor is used for this event, as in run in a set system, alternating 2 divisions

Athletes must be Pre-teen and older, level B1 and above

Compulsories for junior athletes and short programme for senior athletes must be performed if the athletes will be trialling for World or European Championships in that competition year (eg, if an athlete is intending to trial for WBTF World or Europeans in 2017, they must enter compulsory/short programme in all competitions following 1st September 2016)

If compulsories are included, freestyle makes up 75% of the score utilising WBTF tabulation methods.
